Horizontal Drilling

Rays Electrical takes Pride in partnering with our customers to make their projects successful. We ensure safety, professionalism and timeliness are maintained during the duration of your project.
Directional boring, commonly called horizontal directional drilling or HDD, is a steerable trench less method of installing underground pipes, conduits and cables.

Purpose:
Horizontal Drilling/ Directional boring is used when trenching or excavating is not practical. It is suitable for a variety of soil conditions and jobs including road, landscape and river crossings. Horizontal Drilling is used for installing infrastructure such as telecommunications and power cable conduits, water, sewer and gas lines as well as irrigation raceways.

Knowledge:
The knowledge, skill and experience of Rays Electricals’ drilling crew plays a crucial role in our success since the action of directional boring takes place underground and out of sight. This requires that the operator has complete information about existing utilities so that he can plan the best bore path and avoid damaging existing utilities.
Our team is experienced in using safe practices of pot holing to expose any utility crossings so that we can visually see the depth. We incorporate the use of hydro-excavation and also use utility locating equipment to maximize our ability to know where the existing utilities are located for our bore path.
